Horizon operator achieves Enchem 2

Three years ago, Cameron Mace returned home after spending a year working in a steel factory in Australia to pursue a career in the oil and gas industry.

Oil and gas is in the blood for Cameron, whose father started in the industry before he was born. Cameron became interested in the industry for several reasons; including the job opportunities, the ability to work internationally, the flexibility of working shifts rather than a regular 40 hour week and the team environment.

For the past few years, Cameron has been contracted by Horizon Energy and been based predominantly at the Cheal Production Facility near Stratford in Taranaki. He says that during his time working at Cheal, he has gained many new skills and experiences. Cameron has worked his way up from trainee operator to a qualified and confident control room operator in less than three years and has enjoyed every minute of it.

As for his future plans, Cameron intends to continue studying toward an Enchem 3/4 certificate and utilize and extend his skills offshore and overseas.
